In July 2010, US Congress signed into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that includes a Conflict Mineral provision. The goal of the provision is to eliminate human right abuse and violence by cutting the illegal trade of gold, tin, tantalum and tungsten of armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its adjoining countries (Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, The Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia).
